There is a serious bug in IE8 which causes you internet explorer (IE8) toolbar to change to black color. You wont see text menus. Infact those menus are there but due to black background you cannot see those. As of now, there is not update from Microsoft for this bug.
To resolve this issue, change your desktop theme to some other theme (e.g. classic) and then restore back the original theme. Now close your internet explorer and start it again. This must fix the issue.
